Don't let these "believers" fool you. It's not as easy as a statement to acquire and then maintain a productive attitude. It takes considerable experience, work, and time to find where your head needs to be in order to obtain those things that you find of great merit in your life and to bring them into the lives of those you affect around you (family, friends, strangers) and lives to come (posterity).

But attitude does require dedication and effort. It is of great importance, for all your repeating thoughts create ideas, create actions, which over time creates character. And if you allow too many negative, improper, incorrect thoughts to dominate you will not succeed. It is here where most fall. But it is more than mere thought or self-focused thought that brings out our best. I'll let my friend Morpheus instruct.

Morpheus : I'm trying to free your mind, Neo...but I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it....Tank, load the jump program.

Neo straightens as the dojo dissolves like a curtain lifting, leaving the two men now standing on a building rooftop in a city skyline.

Morpheus turns to Neo, his long coat flapping in the wind.

Morpheus : You have to let it all go, Neo. Fear...doubt...and disbelief. Free your mind...

Morpheus spins, running hard at the edge of the rooftop. And jumps. He sails through the air, his coat billowing out behind him like a cape -

He somersaults once and lands on the rooftop some 100 feet away.

Neo : Woah.

Yes, "woah." It is in the believing where we gain the most. Henry Ford said it best: "If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right!"

He would understand what Morpheus has to say. But as I said before there is more. Let's take a look at Neo's progression for explanation. Here he goes to the Oracle to see if he is "the one."

Oracle : But you already know what I'm going to tell you.

Neo : I'm not The One..... he looks sort of disappointed

Oracle : Sorry, kid. You got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something...

If Neo had said he was the one, then the Oracle would have told him, "Yes, you are."

So Neo struggles with whether or not he is "the one," as in the chosen one, the Messiah, the one who has come to set the people free from the matrix that imprisons them.

At certain times it's evident that he does have superior capabilities, but there are two significant incidents early on, points of demarcation, where he does as Morpheus instructs, and he overcomes doubt, fear, and worry. But it only occurs when his focus is away from the self and on the lives of others. Only when Morpheus and Trinity's lives are on the line does he excel and exceed any superior ability previously shown. Only in a forgetting of the self to the betterment, even the saving of, others does Neo--and you and I--obtain greatness. It is here where real attitude, the ability to maintain it through the thickest thick and thinest thin, takes place.

If you can't find motivation, an ability to change yourself, your attitude, for not only the better but the best, then look to the needs of the other. Therein you will find the answers you've always sought. God bless.
