The Gem Builders

Inner Projection
Fossil and root are stories that begin with the end,
exiled, ravaged of neglect, living in darkness.
Nevertheless, in the fossil
answers to the foundation
of civilization
boil and quake,
activity in still life.
And the root
without fanfare,
unseen,
the groundwork for being.
Our depth of meaning, understanding,
is gleaned of human experience,
combined layer upon layer.
Why does the pressure crush some?
While others produce eternal gems
of power and light.
Granted, we deal not in perfection
but those striving the hardest
look to build sapphires, rubies,
and then
seeds to root
to posterity's delight.
And the vanquished, well,
their shame is not reveled in,
and at their request
the gem builders
exile their darkness
to unconditional light,
seed to root with ancient law,
a gentle guide for the vanquished,
if wisdom shows true ache to play.
With patience root will to fossil,
a radiant gem, aglow in the night.
exiled, ravaged of neglect, living in darkness.
Nevertheless, in the fossil
answers to the foundation
of civilization
boil and quake,
activity in still life.
And the root
without fanfare,

the groundwork for being.

I love it and it prompted me to write:Faraway you set out in being depends on your organism’s affectionate amid the infantile, kindhearted with the ripened, compassionate with the determined and lenient of the feeble and strapping. For the reason that soon in life, you will have been each one of these. If the "ME" cannot adapt, discernment and perseverance are nil. The seed of light and darkness occupy the same space at the same time. Which seed will come forth?Dr. Rucker,
Wow! that's some nice writing. Very nice in itself. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment.
Hi Jeff.Beautiful poem, very well expressed. As a lapidary and rock hound, I have enjoyed it greatly. Applause.DianneDianne,
I'm glad you were able to connect. I don't know where the idea came from, having written it some time ago, but it works well in this context. Thanks for reading and commenting.
no rhyming allows depth and implies a fully adult mind;the imagery is splendid;"the gem buildersexile their darknessto unconditional light, seed to root with ancient law,a gentle guide for the vanquished"is an ineffable hidden truth of most ages;kudos! It was delicious reading;paul"no rhyming allows depth and implies a fully adult mind"

Wow, you've taken the cold, hard study of gems and made it sound poetic. That's what I like, poetry that actually says something. Well done, and thanks.David, thanks for the thanks, and for taking the time to read and comment.
